Answer From The Space

Insterstellar has shown a completely new space adventure for 2014 movie enthusiasts. Below Christopher Nolan’s direction, the movie has placed 15th in online-based movie review, IMDB. Interstellar tells a story when humanity is threatened by natural disaster. Food and health issue are two main problem that the movie try to solve. Afterwards, space adventure is one of the option to continue the generation. The movie shows a magnificent characters building throughout the introduction. Aside from that, movie Interstellar shows how space is filled with uncountable mystery. The moment they took off from earth, it is showing that humanity is little to be compared with the universe. The unknown possibilities, which might show, generate the emotion which Nolan is playing with. The truth is universe, we might say for now, is unlimited. Our galaxy, Milky Way, is a small part in contributing the whole universe. There are stars which shining brightly even though the estimated distance are hardly to be measured. Unimaginably numbers of mystery are filling our universe we live in.
We might tell that the oldest system of life is universe. From it, people will be amazed by how much they can learn. In this field of study, people are open to express their opinion about, for example, the story how earth formed, or how every planets appear at very first time. There are reasonable answers for some mystery, and some are not. The universe is a media to facilitate the curiosity of brilliant future minds. Stephen Hawking, for example, is one of the brightest mind who is now studying and have written books about astronomy. The reason why he steep into the field of study is the countless of knowledge haven’t been explored. There are no perfect answer to the problems which risen up, of course, but close to perfect is enough.
Although there is no perfect answer for behind the mystery, there are some theories and some are acceptable, for now, with the limitation of the technology and knowledge. Knowledge that has no boundaries is astronomy. Its study of space objects are so broad so that they create theory based on scientific research and discovery. For example, theory of gravity is exist because as we have known that earth and every other planets in Milky Way have their own path in rotating the solar system. Keppler theory, theory that show the period of planet orbiting the sun, is created after hours of observing the location of every planets even though it might not be enough when the theory is applied to other galaxy.
Theory might be a reasonable answer, but will it be the truth? Some might disagree with the theory out there. After all, it may show anomaly when it comes to mathematical solving. The chance to prove the theory is scarce due to money which has been invested in space exploration. While observing from far place could be enough, the exploration seems to be waste of money and could be distributed to other problems which needing fast solution. The movie Interstellar shows a conflict in humanity based on what prioritize need to be picked. This is the obstacle of researchers to expand the knowledge of the space.

So much to learn about with limited money and time is the irony of space studies. We might have our own opinion, but theories are not always right, or even are wrong and far from the truth. Though, limitation of human’s knowledge somehow is not set by the technology or the technical issues, but it redirects to people’s beliefs. For what I have learned, human’s knowledge will be limited to the knowledge we only need to know. Some knowledge, or mystery, are not meant to be known and learned so it will remain unknown for no reason.

ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY ABOUT EDUCATION

Study to be Employed?

Working in a farm, becoming labor for industry, sweating for serving plates of rice to fulfill the day are not what people want in their daily life, yet Indonesians most likely do. Bureau of Indonesia’s Statistics (BPS) stated that, by Feb 7th, 7.20 percent of productive Indonesians population are unemployed. Meanwhile, the numbers of employment force people to accept low salary jobs; below the standardized salary which government has set. One of the major problem which cause the issue is the mindset of students after they graduate. Most schools may only have been developed students with a rigid structured curriculum, so they are only ready to pass the standardized test, follow the instruction book and work repeatedly over and over until reaching the criteria of success.
In Indonesia, school’s subjects are organized based on the current standardized test’s criteria. The numbers of different subjects for this one particular test have created the unbalanced students’ intelligence. Students are expected to master all subjects, yet they will not use or have least interests in them. If they are able to learn all, they are taught in only a few strict method, so afterward they have a same way in thinking. This is shown by the number of entrepreneurship, which needs creative thinking, in Indonesia is low as 4 percent (Tempo).
Other than that, the way of thinking in Indonesia is developed to follow certain pattern, therefore inventions are scarce in Indonesia. Some teachers taught students only with a single way solutions which they prefer. As the result, some students are afraid to make mistakes, so they follow that solution from their teacher. This process of learning has omitted creativity. All inventions around the world were created because the inventor wanted to have different approach in solving problems. Up to 2010, only sixteen patents, by Indonesians, compared to 654 patents made by Malaysian shows a huge different of both nation.
We may say that Indonesia’s curriculum are strict and rigid, even too difficult, but it is one of the advanced curriculum in the world shown by the presence of college-level material in school curriculum. Nevertheless, when school is trying to make us succeed, some may say the criteria of success is vary. They may teach us calculus to become a great engineer, or biology for becoming a doctor, but painter and sculpture creator are some examples of successful jobs which need practice. Moreover, variety of jobs decrease employment because people become creative and utilize what they have for earning income.
School may have become the problem of the unsuccessful students by setting the criteria of smart and skillful students. The lack of judgment criteria have contributed to numbers of employee, instead of employer. Rigid and strict school’s system correspondingly cut numbers of patents and inventions, even it judge students’ choices for future jobs. Thus, we may need to change Indonesian school’s system to catch up with developed countries which allow students to choose their own classes.

Presenting Idea in a New Way

These days, some of us have abandoned the existence of blog post, or any other writing media. The invention of television has almost replaced written media as well. Still, even writing is still popular, such as books and magazines, video clips are now high on demand. People tend to browse videos because the effective information is presented in short period of time. This is the main reason why we need to alter the way of presenting our idea from written to moving pictures. Presenting ideas through videos can be a popular method to reach more people only by few following steps.

First of all, idea or message have to be composed. Creating a concise, brief, and meaningful idea will be easier to understand. Avoiding unnecessary points that might not relate to the idea is a way to create powerful message. Diction might help unrepeatable words and dictionary is a helpful friend.

Then, when you present the idea, you have to be ready. Preparing the speeches and acts will affirm the viewer about the idea which is presented. We may want to avoid creating footage which showing unnatural behavior. Planning out body gestures are ways to gain natural performance. Pretending to be someone else are highly not recommended because it may show the low self-esteem of the presenter.

Editing the video could be hard for beginners. Although, there are a lot of online tutorials to be learned. Basically, you need to trim the unwanted parts and put them in order the video want to be served. Afterward, adding pictures or other clips are recommended to help describing ideas.

Finally, the video is done and you are ready to share it to people. Sharing to closest friends, copying them DVDs will be a hard work. Nowadays, youtube or other social media are available to facilitate this new technology. By uploading it on the web, not only people from your circle will watch it, but thousands or even millions of people may watch it.

Now, idea is shared in a new different way and waited to be watched. By composing a concise idea, people will easily understand what it means. The way presenter broadcast the messages are a huge factor for how much messages are transmitted. By having it on the web, the idea will reach out to unexpectedly numbers of people. Therefore, video is a top-notch idea facilitator to be chosen in inspiring people.

Django's fate

Topic: Django was a free slave.
Controlling idea: Django turned out from slave into bounty hunters.

Being handcuffed, feeling cold, forced to obey all orders, and tortured without mercy had been Django's daily routines. He sensed anger living inside him since being a slave from birth. Out of sudden, a former dentist wanted to buy him in a lone dark forest, considering he knew faces whom the dentist asked. Therefore, he was set free with a surprising shot from the dentist to Django's owner. Dr. Schultz, a german, introduced him to bounty hunting since most criminals were slave's 'carer'. Django considered this opportunity as a payback to what he had suffered before and to help fellow slaves. Even though Django was differed because of his race, he was the only slave who could hold that much pressure by being mocked and mistreated in any way. He once was captured and tortured back again after he shot people who owned his wife, but again he was set free by telling lies and he came back after all for revenge and could live happily unlike other slaves.

Chow

Ken Jeong was nominated as the best villain in MTV Movie Awards. He starred in Hangover Trilogy and he created strong impression by acting as Leslie Chow. Leslie Chow, in the movie, was an Asian Gangster. He was introduced in the first movie by appearing, naked, from inside of a car’s trunk. He was being a stereotypical of an Asian by being able to do Karate and knocking Phil, Alan, and Stu, the trio protagonists, down.
Even though Chow left in a sudden, he kept coming back to give a thrill. He demanded to get his money back from the Trio who was accused stealing from him. As an antagonist of the movie, he did his villain part when he abandoned excuses and reasons which the trio had told and asked his request to be fulfilled in anyway. He sometimes laughed empathically to leave the trio a notes that he was a serious man. Although he acted as a villain who usually is described as serious evil person, he chuckled hard when something he thought it was funny, such as when Alan was hardly getting out from a car.
At the second movie, Chow came back as a friend after the Trio had come to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. The guys met Chow in a dirty hotel in Bangkok after woke up from a great hangover. The Trio was surprised that he did not mean any harm to them but suddenly he called the party extended and did some cocaine. Suddenly, a happy faced Chow, after acting silly and being extremely friendly, passed out on the table right after sniffing the cocaine. The trio threw him inside a cooler box because of the panic Chow created.
Chow came back and kept surprising the Trio as they thought he was dead. He explained how hard he partied that dying suddenly from cocaine shot is normal. The character is being on and off the scene but always filling the scene of the movie threatened by him.  He came back mad and threatened the trio to retrieve his monkey back which had the code of a transaction. The trio was troubled again with gangsters chasing after them because of Chow. Chow was betrayed at the end, and acted strangely insane when he got caught.
On the final movie, Chow, a party animal who randomly shouting insane nonsense words, created his escape from jail by digging the wall. The guards had no idea how. He escaped and still caused the trio problems. Marshall, who was harmed by Chow, kidnapped the trio and demanded them to get his gold back which Chow had stolen. Chow contacted Alan whom he trusted and got the trio into helping him to retrieve gold from, what he told them, his house. Chow was a disgusting person as he sniffed Stu’s bottom when they were breaking inside an abandon house and he ate dog’s food from its plate. Nevertheless, he was an insane but brilliant evil schemer that the trio actually helping him to steal gold from Marshall that he had not owned before.

As the movie continue, Chow’s character developed as well. In the end, he was almost got killed after the trio caught him. He escaped the trunk with help from Alan. Chow came back threatening the trio after killing Marshall. He was going to shoot but he actually let them free. He even offered money to them. Chow, after all, had a deep emotional feeling. It explained that he is not an ugly villain creature who do bad with no reasons. This is a touching moment created by character’s development during the story.  This is why Chow actually is like-able even though he is a villain from this movie, not just because his funny accent and dumb behavior.

To Live in the Future

Throughout history, every single human being that have walked on this earth must have dreams. It could be related to a job, a life, a thing, or even a human being. Dreams made human have something to chase; a goal to achieve. Or, as a particular brand put it, dreams create future. Edo is not an exception of this fact. Born with a full name of Ridho Indawan Utomo, he graduated from SMAN 28 Jakarta. He has grown to a man loving to spend time doing cinematography: the art of making movies.
Astonishingly, he currently does not have a particular dream job for the future. He stated, however, that his main purpose is to get a whole lot of money—in short: be a rich man. With that money, he plans to secure his parents’ finance on their retirement. He also stated that he tend to go with the flow of his life. He entered ITB because it is the best institute in the country so that he hoped at ITB he can find his true bearings and learn a whole lot of things: from hard skills to love life.
Next year, he wants to major in aeronautical engineering because his family closely tied to the aviation world: his father is a technician for Garuda Indonesia and his brother is a pilot! He said it would be great to complete the line: Edo designs the plane, his father fixes it, and his brother flies it. What a nice family affair! His interest on cinematography also leads him to join LFM. He plans to make movies and getting involved in the process. His long term dream on this one is to make a trip-movie of him traveling with his own plane whilst embracing the cultures and people.
He also stated that the reason he wants to be an engineer is to help people. To the contrary, his childhood dream job was actually to be a doctor. Her mother was sick at that time and he wanted to help her. Fortunately she recovered and Edo shifted his dream. That is why he wants to be an engineer. Not only helping his mother, as an engineer he can help and impact millions of lives.

written by Muhammad Firas Rasyid Abdurrrahman

Firas is a acquaintance in FTMD 2014. He is from 8 Senior High School Jakarta and he is a quite a guy. Why? The first impression after meeting him, I concluded that he talks knowledgeably but he is not a rigid type of person. A person who is serious in every moment, unlike Firas. Firas laughs and talks a broad topic so it won't be boring to talk to him. He likes to read magazine and his interests actually are pretty in common with me. He adore travelling and he actually joined Scuba diving in ITB with me. He is a really nice person, a sharp looking type of man. Besides that, he sometimes seems to be a loner, but actually he is a calm person. If you go to him and talk, he will just interact like everybody else. I think there's a lot to describe about him but you can find it out by yourself!

Warm Welcome

Well, Hi! As you read from the title, so this will be a soft welcoming me back, sort of, to blogging! Even though it's mandatory from writting class to create this new blog, but I'm quite excited to be in it! And.. Might be a little introduction won't harm.

So, my name is Ridho indawan utomo but I live with people calling me "Edo." I am currently a college student and I live in Bandung from now. I study in Mechanical, Aeronautics, Material Engineering Institute Technology Bandung. Aside from that, I love reading and writing. Read my old posts on ridhostarr.tumblr.com and ridhostarr.blogspot.com rather than a serious writing in this one. Well, can I speak about this here? Hm. By the way, I love music and my current favorite band is called STRFKR. I know it's weird but it's censored and I think I won't be able to post something not appropriate here. Well, I wrote too much. See ya! Edo out!
